Sunless Industry professionals who support dog rescue organizations in saving the lives of dogs and ending dog homelessness.
Sprays for Strays is a fundraising organization that raises money through the sunless tanning industry to help dog rescue organizations save shelter and stray dogs and to do all that is needed to find them the loving homes they deserve. Through membership fees, donations and fundraising events, we help dog rescues pay for spays and neuters, vaccines, medical bills and many of the things needed to help a dog along on its journey to a better life. Your membership, donations and partnership helps us do our part to help the dogs currently in need, while working on our greater mission to end dog homelessness.
My Story
A Dog. A New Industry. A New Life.
I had been living in London, Paris and Brussels for 15 years, traveling and working as a business and technology consultant to Fortune 500 companies and didn't have the sort of lifestyle that was conducive to caring for a pet.
One day, while living in Brussels, I walked into a pet shop and met a dog who changed everything. I named him Snoopy. After many long, dark and rainy days, in 2000, we moved to sunny Los Angeles, in search of a more "outdoor" lifestyle for Snoopy. I was still consulting and working long hours and I felt like a terrible dog mom so I decided that it was important to me to find a way to make time to spend with Snoopy and to create a life that I could enjoy.
I researched all the different industries and discovered the tanning industry was a multibillion dollar industry so I bought into an automated spray tanning booth company that was new to the market. That was in 2004. Then in 2005, Infinity Sun was born. The sunless industry was just starting and many people thought it would be a fad.
Infinity Sun was one of the first handheld sunless tanning brands and consequently really helped to shape the industry into what it has become today. So effectively, that made Snoopy my cofounder and inadvertently an entire industry was impacted by his existence.
This dog changed my life in so many ways. Not only did he teach me the meaning of unconditional love, but he was the reason I was able to create a life that I love which also brought the same fate to so many others! When Snoopy passed away in 2011, it felt right to create a nonprofit that raises money through the sunless industry to help dogs in need find homes. If Snoopy made such a difference in my life, there are so many amazing dogs out there just waiting for someone to love them, someone whose life they can change too. I believe dogs rescue us while we believe we are rescuing them.
